|Dancers at Notting Hill Carnival 2012|
Hundreds of thousands of people descended on West London this Sunday and Monday to take part in a Caribbean-inspired celebration and Europe's largest street party, Notting Hill Carnival. Despite the cloudy weather and occasional rain showers, the streets were filled with the booming sound of music of all genres and the delicious smell of jerk chicken and BBQ corn. Floats brought Caribbean colour to the streets of Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove as revellers danced behind.

This year marked the 48th Notting Hill Carnival. The flags of Barbados, St Lucia, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago amongst others were waving proudly. Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence, Jamaican flags were particularly present: wrapped around people's shoulders, waving in the air and wrapped around people's waists as make-shift skirts.
